From relaxed cafes and family restaurants to bars, alfresco and fine dining, there is a perfect dining experience for all tastes and budgets in the Geographe Bay and Margaret River Wine Region.

The Margaret River Wine Region is responsible for three per cent of Australias wine production and supplies no less than 20 per cent of the premium market. Visitors will find vineyards dotting the picture-book hillsides throughout the Margaret River area. Each has its own style and ambience. In all, there are over over 200 vineyards and 80 wineries - a remarkable number considering that wine was first produced in the region just 30 years ago. Character and quality can be found in fruit-intense chardonnays, rich semillons, robust cabernets, soft merlots and other varietal wines and blends.

Highly skilled chefs, have like the winemakers, been attracted to the Geographe and Margaret River region by the thought of working with high-quality produce. Invariably they are stimulated to produce dishes with flair and imagination, with many featuring local gourmet treats- cheese, olives, venison and local chocolates! Many of the wineries have tasting plates on offer, and you can spend the afternoon relaxing amongst the vines, with your favourite vino and enjoying some of the local gourmet delights.

The Busselton and Dunsborough town centres are also home to a wide variety of restaurants, with wine bars, local pubs and gold plate restaurants all offering a unique dining experience. You can enjoy breakfast, lunch or dinner overlooking the picturesque Geographe Bay from many of the restaurants in these towns. Margaret River is also a bustling country town, with several cafes and restaurants where you can enjoy the local drop alongside quality fare.

If you feel like packing your own picnic, head to one of the many 'gourmet grub' shops to choose your own selection of local cheeses and olives with a wide variety of olive oils, dukka and other gastric delights to choose from!
